Who we are
Code the Cloud provides a self-paced online course on infrastructure as code. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it when you visit this website or use the course.
Data we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and sign-in credentials.
- Purchase records: the plan you bought, the transaction date and the amount. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Learning progress: which lessons and labs you have completed, so you can resume where you left off.
- Correspondence: messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and basic logs needed to keep the site secure and working.
We never ask for, and you should never send us, cloud provider credentials, access keys or other secrets.
How we use your data
- To grant and maintain access to the course after payment.
- To save your progress and deliver course updates.
- To answer questions and provide support.
- To send essential service messages such as receipts and account notices.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud and keep the platform secure.
- To meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. If we use analytics, it is limited to aggregated usage data that helps us improve the course. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the site may then stop working.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers for hosting, payment processing and email delivery. They process data only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service.
Data retention
We keep account and progress data for as long as your account is active. Purchase records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require. Support messages are deleted when they are no longer needed to help you.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, access is limited to people who need it, and passwords are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you of any breach that affects you where required.
Legal bases for processing
We process your data on the following bases:
- Contract: to deliver the course you purchased and provide your account.
- Legitimate interest: to secure the platform, prevent fraud and improve the course.
- Consent: for optional messages and non-essential cookies, where required.
- Legal obligation: for accounting, tax and regulatory records.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Third-party links
The course materials may link to third-party sites, such as provider documentation or tooling. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
Children
The course and this website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
